A brand new isolation facility will be set up in Mumbai between Corona to Jung where Corona patients will be treated. It will be built in three months using pre-engineered building (PEB) technology. For this, BMC has taken the idea from China where 1000 bedded hospitals were constructed within 10 days. BMC will build a three-storey building inside the premises of Kasturba Hospital, where Corona patients are currently being treated.
A three-storey building will be built with PEB technology
A three-storey will be built inside the premises of Kasturba Hospital, where Kovid-19 patients are currently being treated. This isolation facility will be built using pre-engineered building (PEB) technology. That is, parts of the building will be assembled and assembled in a factory. Once the work starts, BMC expects to get the ground plus two-storeyed building ready in the next three months.
China had built two hospitals within 10 days
In fact, using PEB technology, the Authority in February built two hospitals in Wuhan, China. These hospitals were built within just 10 days. In addition to two hospitals with 1 thousand beds, China also temporarily created 14 additional health centers to treat quarantined people and patients. From here BMC also got the idea.
Hospital structure will be made of stainless steel
This will be the first time BMC will use PEB technology to build a hospital. A senior body official said, 'Construction up to lintel level in PEB Technique is traditional. The entire building is then built in a casting yard and brought to the site and fitted with a nut-bold. ' He told that this structure is made of stainless steel. This type of structural concept is used in building industrial buildings, metro stations and warehouses.
Work can begin from May 1
The isolation facility that BMC will build in Kasturba Hospital will have 60 beds. It will also include ICU beds, a clinical lab and drug stores. On Saturday, the BMC met to discuss the project. An official said the design will be finalized this week and work is likely to begin on May 1.
60 bed hospital will be ready
BMC Additional Municipal Commissioner (Health) Suresh Kakani said, "The structure will be a permanent facility and will be the city's new isolation center for Kovid-19 patients." It will then be used for infected patients. We hope that we will make it in the record. The ward of this hospital will have 47 beds, 6 beds in ICU and 7 separate beds in rooms.
