The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has questioned the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) over the status of the probe into the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput and the silence on the AIIMS panel's report that went public in October. The party has asked whether the investigating agency is not opening its mouth under political pressure. The Congress has also linked it to the Bihar elections.
MPCC general secretary and party spokesperson Sachin Sawant tweeted on Monday morning, "Is the CBI following the code of conduct applicable for Bihar elections in Sushant Singh Rajput case?" No action has been taken nor any statement has been made even after the report was submitted by the AIIMS panel. It has been more than a month since the AIIMS panel report was made public. Has the Narendra Modi-led government asked the CBI to keep the matter in abeyance till the Bihar elections are over? ''
Sawant expressed surprise that more than two months after the investigation was taken up and a month after the AIIMS panel submitted its report, the CBI has not said a word. He said, "We have two questions for the CBI. Is it silent because of the code of conduct implemented in Bihar elections? We would also like to know whether there has been any pressure on the CBI by the Modi government for not stating the election is over? is. CBI must speak now.
The 34-year-old Rajput was found dead in his apartment in Bandra on 14 June. Following the Supreme Court order in August, the investigation was handed over from Mumbai Police to the CBI. The AIIMS panel report has ruled out the possibility of Rajput's death due to poisoning.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the main opposition party in Maharashtra, had criticized the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition government, which includes the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress. Questions were also raised on the Mumbai Police for the investigation in the Rajput case.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Atul Bhatkhalkar said that Congress leaders should not lose patience, CBI is professionally doing its job and the report will come soon. He said, "There is no question of political use of the investigating agency. If the BJP had any motive, the political leaders would have been arrested The CBI is investigating in a very professional manner and will release the report soon. Congress leaders should not forget that when they were in power, in 2013, Narendra Dabholkar was not murdered by a single arrest in Male for 9 months. ''
