Court does not interfere in tractor rally: Supreme Court told the government - we cannot ban the protest, let the police decide on this

Farmers agitating against agricultural laws will take out a tractor rally on 26 January. Against this, the Delhi Police had approached the Supreme Court on behalf of the Central Government. A hearing was held on Wednesday.

A bench of Chief Justice SA Bobde said, "We will not issue any order on the government's application against the tractor rally of farmers or any demonstration. We have already said that let the police decide in this regard."

Government withdraws application

The court told the government, "You can withdraw the application. In this case, you are the authority, you only deal. This is not the case that the court issues the order." After this comment of the court, the government withdrew the application.

Advocates of Kisan Mahapanchayat: The Kisan Mahapanchayat has again applied to form a committee after a member of the Supreme Court formed a committee on the issue of farmers.

Chief Justice-

Is this the same organization that rejected the committee's constitution yesterday?

We have empowered the committee to listen to the farmers and submit reports to us.

What is the point of discrimination in this? Do not discredit the court. (Committee on discrimination charges)

The committee members are not empowered to take decisions. Do not go if you do not go before the committee, but do not defame anyone like this.

You are blaming a member of the committee just because they gave opinions on agricultural laws. We have appointed experts in the committee because we are not experts in this matter.

We have banned the implementation of agricultural laws. You can perform, but peace must be maintained.

Prashant Bhushan (advocate for farmers' organizations): Farmers want to celebrate Republic Day on Outer Ring Road. During this time there will be no attempt to disturb the peace.

Farmer leaders said - rally will be peaceful

Farmer leaders met today with the police of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana for the second consecutive day. What was discussed in this is not known yet. Earlier in Tuesday's meeting, the police appealed to the farmers' leaders not to take out a tractor rally. After the meeting, Chairman of the Revolutionary Farmers Union, Darshan Pal said - "Tractors will take out a rally, but have assured the police that the demonstration will be peaceful."

What are the arguments of the Delhi Police?

Any rally or protest that tries to disrupt the Republic Day celebrations will be a shame to the nation.

This will bring the country into disrepute. Law and order situation can become worse.

Citing separate reports, it has been said that many farmers are preparing to reach the Red Fort to disrupt the Republic Day parade.

What do farmer leaders say?

On January 26, the tractor rally will be held along the tricolor at Outer Ring Road, Delhi.

There will be no interruptions in the Republic Day celebrations.
