Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa left the country amid the political turmoil in Sri Lanka, but now former PM Mahinda Rajapaksa and Basil will not be able to do so. The court has banned him from leaving the country. Basil Rajapaksa has already tried to leave the country by taking a plane on the Silk Route, but the workers' union stopped him at the airport itself. Basil Rajapaksa has been the Finance Minister of Sri Lanka.

Earlier, Mahindar and Basil Rajapaksa had filed affidavits in the Supreme Court saying that they would not leave the country till the hearing of the fundamental rights petition filed against them is completed. It was only after Basil Rajapaksa tried to leave the country that a petition was filed against him in the Supreme Court. Basil Rajapakse is the younger brother of Gotabaya Rajapakse. He had resigned from the post of Finance Minister in April itself.

Mahinda Rajapaksa resigned from the post of Prime Minister on 9 May after pressure. A Sri Lankan court had banned him from traveling abroad over the investigation against him for a deadly attack on the anti-government movement. After his resignation, President Gotabaya made Wickremesinghe prime minister. However, improving the situation in Sri Lanka is not so easy.

Let us inform you that Ranil Wickremesinghe has been made interim President in the absence of Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who fled the country after the protests. The Speaker has announced that Wickremesinghe will have all the powers and powers of the President by the time elections will be held in Parliament for the post of President on July 20.
