Covid-19: No Vaccine 100% Effective ... Know What AIIMS Director Dr. Randeep Guleria Speaks on Corona's Second Wave and Vaccine

Posted on 17th Apr 2021 05:29 pm by rohit kumar

In the second wave of Corona in the country, now more than 2-2 lakh new cases are coming up in a single day. This is the situation when the Corona vaccination campaign has been going on in the country since January. Even after getting vaccinated, there are some cases of infection. What is the reason for this? Are vaccines of no use? And why did the second wave of Corona enter the country? AIIMS director Randeep Guleria answered all such questions on Saturday.

What are the main reasons for the second wave of corona?

Doctor Guleria said that many factors are responsible for the surge in Corona cases. But there are two main reasons why the case increased rapidly. He said, 'There are 2 main reasons for the surge in corona cases. Firstly, when vaccination started in January-February and new cases went down significantly, people stopped following the rules related to Corona. The second reason is that the virus mutated and started spreading more rapidly. '

Anoop Malani, a professor at the University of Chicago Law School's Pritzker School of Medicine, gives another possible reason behind the rise in corona cases in the country. According to him, the virus is also infecting people again. This may also be a reason behind the increase in the case.

Why the vaccine is not 100 percent effective yet?

Some people are still getting infected after taking both doses of the Corona vaccine. Because of this, the question is bound to come to anyone's mind whether the vaccine is unable to prevent infection and if it fails, then what is its usefulness, why should someone get it done? Randeep Guleria also cleared up the confusion about the vaccine. He said, 'We have to remember that no vaccine is 100 percent effective. You can get infected but will not let the anti-virus virus of your body grow and you will not be seriously ill. '

Vaccines do not prevent infection but will reduce severity: Professor Malani

Experts are repeatedly telling people the importance of the Corona vaccine. Health and Development Economist Professor Anoop Malani has also said that Covid-19 vaccines do not prevent a person from getting infected but helps in curing the disease faster and reducing its severity. Malani, a professor at the University of Chicago Law School's Pritzker School of Medicine, is spearheading the Covid-19 serosurvey series with IDFC, an economic development-focused think-tank in cities and states across India.

The Healthcare system crumbles, what is the solution?

AIIMS director Randeep Guleria said, "We are seeing tremendous pressure on the healthcare system." To deal with the way cases are increasing, we have to increase beds and other facilities in our hospitals. Apart from this, we have to reduce corona cases as soon as possible.

Guleria also emphasized the need to follow Corona rules in electoral and religious activities as well. He said, 'This is a time when all religious activities take place all over the country and elections are also going on. We have to understand that lives are also important. We can do these things at a small level so that religious sentiments are not hurt as well and the Covid Appropriate Behavior can also be followed. '

All previous records of new cases and deaths broken

The total number of people infected so far in the country has increased to 1,45,26,609 after 2,34,692 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in India, while the highest number of 1,341 people died in a single day. The total number of deaths has increased to 1,75,649. According to data from the Union Health Ministry on Saturday at eight o'clock, the number of under-treated patients in the country has now crossed 1.6 million.
