CPI-M's Subhashini Ali owns assets over Rs. 7.8 crore

Kolkata, April 24 (IANS) Veteran trade unionist and CPI-M candidate from West Bengal's Barrackpore, Subhashini Ali, owns properties in excess of Rs.7.8 crore including Rs.7 crore worth of inherited assets.

Ali, in her affidavit filed before the Election Commission has declared annual income of Rs. 12.67 lakh for 2012-13 and said she possesses moveable assets worth over Rs.29.74 lakh.

Her moveable assets include bank deposits valued at Rs.20 lakh, jewelry worth over Rs.6 lakh and a SUV purchased for Rs.3 lakh.

Her immovable properties include self acquired non-agricultural land in Delhi with a current market rate of Rs.30 lakh and a residential building in Kanpur which can currently fetch Rs. 25 lakh.

She has inherited two residential buildings in New Delhi which now carry a cumulative market value of Rs.7 crore.

Daughter of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's close confidantes - Col. Prem Sehgal and Captain Lakshmi Sehgal of the Indian National Army, the 66-year-old holds a master degree in English and has not been convicted of any offence.

In her affidavit, Ali has also clarified that she has been living separately from her spouse for the last 14-15 years "owing to our differences", so, she was "not in a position to state the whereabouts of my spouse".
