Northeast and South India are struggling with extreme heat. In many cities, the temperature has crossed 48 degrees Celsius. Extreme heat has been wreaking havoc in five states including Delhi and Western Uttar Pradesh for the last two weeks. However, the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify further, due to which it is expected to become a cyclonic storm.

Fishermen advised to go to the sea

The Indian Meteorological Department informed that this storm is likely to hit the Bay of Bengal by the evening of May 25. Due to the cyclone on Sunday, wind can blow at a speed of 102 kilometers per hour. IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the South Bay of Bengal till May 24, the Central Bay of Bengal till May 26, and the North Bay of Bengal from May 24 to May 27 morning.

There will be heavy rain in these states

IMD has predicted heavy rain over West Bengal, North Odisha, Mizoram, Tripura, and South Manipur on May 26 and 27.

How will the monsoon be?

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, India is expected to have a normal monsoon between June and September this year. The country is expected to receive 102 percent of the long-period average (LPA) rainfall of 868.6 mm. According to the report, there will be more rain than normal in the central and western parts from June to September.
