IPL 2022: Dhoni started the innings with a six for the first time, also joined the club of Kohli-Rohit and Uthappa

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is seen in his old colors in the 15th season of IPL. He scored 50 runs in 38 balls in the first match against Kolkata Knight Riders. Then his strike rate was 131.58. Now Dhoni scored runs against Lucknow Super Giants at a strike rate of 266.67. Mahi scored 16 runs in six balls at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday. He hit two fours and a six.

 

 

Dhoni came out to bat in the 19th over. He started his innings with a six. This is the first time in IPL history that Dhoni has hit a six off the very first ball. He has done this twice in international cricket. He hit a six off the very first ball against England and New Zealand in 2017.

Avesh Khan gave the fifth blow to Chennai by dismissing Shivam Dubey. After this Dhoni came to the crease. Chennai had 10 balls to spare in the innings. Dhoni faced six of these balls and scored 16 runs. He hit a six in cover and then hit a four towards the third man. After this, another four were hit on the last ball of the innings.

 

Dhoni also completed seven thousand runs in T20 cricket during his innings. He is the first wicket-keeper batsman from India to do so. Before him, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan, and Robin Uthappa have scored more than seven thousand runs. Kohli has scored 10326 runs for India in T20 cricket. He is followed by Rohit Sharma (9936), Shikhar Dhawan (8818), Suresh Raina (8818), and Robin Uthappa (7120).

 

Lucknow Super Giants defeated Chennai Super Kings by six wickets in the match. Lucknow won the toss and decided to bowl first. Chennai scored 210 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. Robin Uthappa scored the highest 50 runs. Shivam Dubey scored 49, Moeen Ali scored 35, Ambati Rayudu scored 27, Ravindra Jadeja scored 17 and Dhoni scored 16 runs. Lucknow won the match by scoring 211 runs for four wickets in 19.3 overs. For him, Quinton de Kock scored 61, Evin Lewis scored 55 not out, KL Rahul scored 40, Ayush Badoni scored 19 not out and Deepak Hooda scored 13 runs.
