The meeting between President Donald Trump and PM Narendra Modi has prepared a blueprint for the relations between India and America for the next ten years.

More oil and gas will be sold to India.

In this much-awaited meeting of the two leaders, there was agreement on bringing Tahawwur Rana, one of the main conspirators of the Mumbai attack, to India, banning pro-Khalistan activities, taking joint decisive action against those who illegally infiltrate Indians into America, making a roadmap for cooperation in the defense sector for the next ten years, selling state-of-the-art F-35 fighter aircraft to India, purchasing more oil and gas from America, building small and large nuclear energy reactors together.

Trump also assured to increase cooperation with India against radical Islamic activities, but he also made it clear that India will not get any exemption for imposing reciprocal tax.

Trump warmly welcomed Modi.

PM Modi reached the White House at 4 pm on Thursday to meet Trump. He stayed there for four hours and during this time Trump accompanied him most of the time. The two leaders met for the first time after almost five years and after Trump became the President again. Trump not only welcomed Modi warmly but also expressed his personal feelings by calling him a special person and saying “We miss you a lot”.

This is what PM Modi said at the conference.

In a 45-minute long press conference, PM Modi identified this meeting as an important moment in India-US relations. During this, a new campaign named Compact has been started to strengthen the India-US partnership for the 21st century. Compact (taking advantage of opportunities in military partnership, commerce, and technology) will work in every field of bilateral cooperation in which emphasis will be given to result-based programs.

Trump called India an important partner on the issue of Islamic terrorism.

President Trump called India an important partner on the issue of Islamic terrorism. The joint statement expressed commitment to cooperate on the threats posed by Al-Qaeda and ISIS as well as Pakistan-backed terrorist organizations Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, which pose a particular threat to India, and asked Pakistan to take prompt action against the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attack and the Pathankot attack and ensure that its land is not used for cross-border terrorism.

In the context of terrorism, India has expressed deep satisfaction over President Trump's approval of Tahawwur Rana's extradition. India has been talking to the US about this for the last several years.

India will work with the US on illegal immigration.

After meeting Trump, PM Modi said, "The same enthusiasm with which we worked together in his first term, I have felt the same enthusiasm, the same energy, and the same commitment even today. In today's discussions, there was satisfaction with our achievements in his first term and a bridge of deep mutual trust. Along with this, there was also a resolve to achieve new goals. We believe that the cooperation and collaboration between India and America can shape a better world.''

Modi gave the slogan of making a mega partnership by combining President Trump's election slogan Make America Great Again (MAGA) and Developed India with Make India Great Again (MEGA). Under this, the target has been set to more than double the bilateral trade to 500 billion dollars by 2030. Also, an agreement has been reached between the two countries to enter into a trade agreement this year.

Way Trump spoke bluntly in the joint press conference about India imposing very high taxes and now America also imposing taxes on Indian products along the same lines. This shows that the path to a trade agreement is not going to be very easy. Trump said, "Now, as much India will impose taxes on our products, we will also impose the same amount.''

It will also help in meeting India's defense needs.

The Trump administration has been trying its best to sell as much defense and war materials to India as possible. The joint statement clearly shows that America has been successful in this. However, this will also help in meeting India's defense needs. America has also talked about changing its rules to give sensitive technologies related to the defense sector to India.

PM Modi arrives in India.

This year, both countries will also create a ten-year framework for defense cooperation. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri described this visit of PM Modi as very important and fruitful. PM Modi has left from Washington and has reached India.
