Delhi Service Bill: 'BJP is jealous of Kejriwal's good work', Sanjay Raut's sarcasm on Center regarding Delhi Service Bill

Posted on 7th Aug 2023 01:33 pm by rohit kumar

With the Delhi Services Bill set to be tabled in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party have issued whips to their MPs asking them to remain present in the Upper House till the adjournment. Significantly, the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023 has already been passed in the Lok Sabha.

Meanwhile, lauding the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi, Sanjay Raut of the Uddhav Thackeray faction said the Arvind Kejriwal administration is doing good work in various fields and that is the reason the Bharatiya Janata Party is getting "jealous".

Sanjay Raut's sarcasm in the center

Sanjay Raut told the media, "This bill is an attack on the federal structure of India. During the elections, the BJP had said that they would give statehood to Delhi but lost the elections to Arvind Kejriwal. It is doing good work in the areas. They are jealous. We will oppose it in the Rajya Sabha."

Raut's Shiv Sena (UBT) party is part of the opposition I.N.D.I.An alliance was formed to take on the NDA government in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Trying to stop Kejriwal in politics

Aam Aadmi Party's Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak said, "This bill is being brought to stop Arvind Kejriwal from moving forward in politics. Congress party and other parties are supporting us. The central government is passing this bill for its political interest." We are bringing it. We will go among the public and expose the BJP."

Bill will be issued in non-BJP government

Sushil Gupta, another Aam Aadmi Party MP, said, "It is a pilot bill that the BJP is introducing, starting with Delhi. Wherever there are non-BJP governments, they will introduce this bill and the state government will Will weaken it. All parties who believe in democracy will oppose it."

Congress issued a whip for the party

Jairam Ramesh, the chief whip of the Congress in the Upper House, issued a three-line whip on August 4, stating that "very important issues will be discussed in the Rajya Sabha on Monday i.e. August 7, 2023." The Chief Whip said, "All members of the Congress Party in the Rajya Sabha are requested to remain present in the House without interruption from 11 am till the adjournment of the House on Monday, the 7th of August, 2023, and support the stand of the party."

Whip issued to appear in Parliament on August 7

Ramesh said, "This can be considered the most important. A reminder was also sent to the party's MPs in the Rajya Sabha on Sunday." The reminder said, "Be positively present in Rajya Sabha and support the stand of the party from 10:45 am on Monday i.e. 7th August 2023 till the adjournment of the House, as important items of legislative business will be taken up for voting." A three-line whip has already been issued in this regard."

Amit Shah will present the bill

The Bill seeks to replace the ordinance on transfers and postings of senior officers in the Delhi government. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to introduce the related bill in the Rajya Sabha on Monday for consideration and passing.

All efforts to thwart the move to pass the bill

The parties of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A.) will make every effort to thwart the government's move to pass the bill. The ruling NDA has over 100 MPs in the Upper House and BJD and YSRCP have also announced their support to the bill.

It is likely to get the support of nominated members and some independents in the 238-member strong House. The 26-block I.N.D.I.A coalition of opposition parties is hoping to defeat the bill in the House.
