Dr. Harsh Mahajan, Founder, and Chief Radiologist, Mahajan Imaging gave a great deal of detail about Omicron's sub-variant BA.2 today. He added that without genome sequencing it is difficult to differentiate between the delta and BA.2 stealth sub-variants. He also explained the reason behind it. They noted that the S-gene drop-off of the BA.2 stealth sub-variant does not correspond to RT-PCR. It is also known as the 'stealth variant' as this Thermo Fisher RT-PCR kit gives the same result as in the earlier Delta.

Too much danger from the BA.2 sub-strain

According to scientists, the threat from the BA.2 sub-strain is very high, as this latent strain is dodging even the RT-PCR test. Due to this, the threat of a new corona wave has arisen in Europe. Britain has said that this new subspecies of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus has been detected in more than 40 countries. It does not catch in the important test RT-PCR of the corona. The BA.2 subform is spreading rapidly in Europe.

According to the World Health Organization, the three subspecies of Omicron are Ba.1, Ba.2, and Ba.3. The BA.1 subtype has been found all over the world. Now the BA.2 species is spreading rapidly. Talking about Denmark, as of 20 January, the number of infected with BA.2 subspecies in the country has almost halved as compared to active cases. According to UK health officials, the BA.2 strain could soon be declared a 'Variant of Concern'.

This stealth strain found in India too

Apart from Britain and Denmark, the BA.2 strain is also reported to be found in Sweden, Norway, and India. Scientists from India and France have also expressed concern about this new form. He says that it can beat BA.1. That is, its cases are increasing rapidly. The UK had recognized the BA.2 subform as of 10 January.
