The water crisis has also deepened in the capital. In such a situation, the Delhi Jal Board has filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding a hearing so that the water crisis does not occur in Delhi during the Corona period. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) petition. The board has filed a petition in the apex court regarding the deepening water crisis in the capital due to a drastic reduction in water supply from Haryana and Punjab. A bench headed by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana decided to hear the case.
The DJB had appealed to the apex court seeking an immediate hearing in the case that if the water supply situation in Delhi does not improve, it may have to cut the water supply in Delhi's hospitals. In the era of the Corona epidemic, hospitals in Delhi are similarly full of patients. The Delhi Jal Board also said that it is currently facing a huge shortage in water supply from Haryana and Punjab. This is currently a major problem.
During the rising heat, people will have to face water shortages in most parts of Delhi for the next three days. The Delhi Jal Board says that the water level of the Wazirabad pond is low and there is a problem due to the lack of sufficient quantity of water from Haryana to the Yamuna. The normal water level of the Wazirabad pond should be 674.5 feet, while it has come down to 667.20 feet. Due to this, there is difficulty in supplying water from Wazirabad, Chandrawal, and Okhla water treatment plants.
