Strong tremors of the earthquake have been felt in Japan late at night. Four people have died due to the strong earthquake. While more than 90 people are said to be injured. The magnitude of the earthquake was measured at 7.4. The earthquake struck off the Fukushima coast of northern Japan. The epicenter of the earthquake was 60 km below sea level.

Due to the earthquake, about two million homes have lost their electricity. It was dark in the city. There are also reports of damage to several houses. A tsunami warning was also issued after the earthquake, but it was later withdrawn.

 

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida told a parliamentary session on Thursday morning that four people were killed in the quake and the cause of their deaths was being investigated. Giving information, he said that 97 people have also been injured due to the earthquake. Earlier, Kyodo News reported that a man died after falling from the second floor of his house in Soma City, while a 70-year-old man died of a heart attack.

Meanwhile, the Japan Meteorological Agency withdrew a low-risk warning for a tsunami off the coasts of Fukushima and Miyagi prefectures early Thursday.

Earlier on 22 January also strong tremors of earthquake were felt. The magnitude of the quake that occurred on 22 January was measured at 6.4. 10 people were injured in this earthquake. The epicenter of the quake that struck southwestern and western Japan was at a depth of 40 kilometers (24.8 mi).
