Free ration scheme extended again for three months, DA's Diwali gift to central employees too

Giving a big relief to the poor population of the country, the central government has decided to extend the scheme of giving free rations for three more months. The scheme was to end on 30 September. Earlier, the government decided to extend the scheme for three months i.e. till the end of this year. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday. Apart from this, the government has also given a big gift to the central employees. The DA of central employees has also been increased by 4 percent.

 

According to the Finance Ministry, taking forward the scheme of free ration for three months will put a burden of Rs 45,000 crore on the exchequer. Government sources say that the central government has taken this decision after reviewing the stock of food grains deposited with it. At present, food grains are available on a large scale with the government. Earlier there were discussions that perhaps the scheme of free rations would be stopped now, but this decision is also being seen from a political point of view.

Elections are due in Gujarat and Himachal in the next three months. In such a situation, the decision to extend the scheme for three months is also linked to this. During the Corona period, this scheme was announced by the central government in the name of PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. Under this, 5 kg of free ration is given per person every month.

 

80 crore people are getting the benefit of the free ration scheme

 

About 80 crore poor people in the country are getting the benefit of this scheme. Under the National Food Security Act, the same ration is already available on subsidy, but the ration available under the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana is different from this. Let us inform you that this scheme was considered important in helping the people affected by the lockdown during the Corona period.
