During the discussion in Lok Sabha, the Union Petroleum Minister said that the increase in fuel prices in India is 1/10th of the increase in prices in other countries. Between April 2021 and March 22, gasoline (petrol) prices increased by 51 percent in the US, 52 percent in Canada, 55 percent in Germany, 55 percent in the UK, 50 percent in France, 58 percent in Spain but compared to There has been an increase of five percent in India.

The price of petrol in Delhi has now gone up to Rs 104.61 per liter, while that of diesel has increased to Rs 95.87. At the same time, petrol is selling at Rs 119.67 and diesel at Rs 103.92 per liter in Mumbai. Apart from this, in Kolkata petrol has become Rs 114.28 and diesel Rs 99.02 per liter, while in Chennai 110.11 and diesel has become Rs 100.19 per liter. Significantly, the prices of petrol and diesel in the country were stable from November 4, 2021, till March 21, 2022. It started increasing on 22 March, which is gradually increasing the burden on the common people of the country.
