
The team of CGST Bhiwandi Commissionerate in Mumbai has busted a big gang claiming to get Input Tax Credit (ITC) based on fake bills. ITC of 18 crores has been detected initially based on fake bills of 41 crores. The accused of a firm has been arrested in the case.
Sumit Kumar, commissioner of CGST Bhiwandi said that this gang was busy taking advantage of the input tax credit through fake GST challans. A firm linked to this gang had availed ITC of Rs 2.57 crore through bogus bills of Rs 14.30 crore. The owner of the firm was arrested as soon as the matter came to the fore.
The name of the firm whose operative has been arrested is M/s Vishwakarma Enterprises. He availed ITC of Rs 2.57 crore on fake invoices of Rs 14.30 crore. The accused has been arrested under section 69 of CGST Act, 2017 for violation of section 132 of CGST Act, 2017. He was released on bail by the Bhiwandi CGST commissioner.
The case is part of a special drive launched by CGST Mumbai Zone against tax fraudsters and a fake ITC network. This is the 15th case of an arrest made by CGST Bhiwandi in the last year. Further investigation is on.
