Royal Challengers Bangalore, currently in magnificent form this season, suffered a defeat against Gujarat Titans on Thursday. Following this loss, RCB captain Rajat Patidar criticized his team’s batsmen. He also took the opportunity to praise the batting performance of Gujarat captain Shubman Gill.
The RCB team has been displaying explosive batting this season; however, in the match played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, they were bundled out for just 155 runs in 19.2 overs. Chasing this target proved to be no challenge for the host team, which successfully reached the total in just 15.5 overs.
Patidar Expresses Frustration
The RCB captain appeared visibly disappointed by this defeat. He indirectly held his batsmen responsible for the loss. He stated, “This score was not sufficient on this pitch; however, the way we bowled and managed to drag the match out is a positive sign. There was a fair amount of grass on the pitch, which offered assistance to the fast bowlers.”
He added, “The manner in which Shubman batted was magnificent, and it put us under immense pressure. We lost a significant number of wickets during the middle overs, which pushed us onto the back foot.”
Focus Not on the Points Table
RCB had an opportunity to defeat Gujarat and claim the top spot on the points table; however, they remain in second place. They currently have 12 points from nine matches, comprising six wins and three losses. Patidar stated that their focus is not on the points table. He also heaped praise on Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
He remarked, “Bhuvneshwar Kumar is an experienced bowler. The way he bowled during the first half of the innings was outstanding. We still have a long journey ahead of us, and we intend to focus on one match at a time. We are not looking at the points table; our primary objective is simply to play good cricket.”
