Haryana's air becomes 'very poor': 6 districts reach Red Zone; AQI crosses 400 in 2 districts, situation is deteriorating in 5 cities as well

The air in the cities of Haryana has reached the stifling category. Most parts of the state have been engulfed in fog. Due to this, the air quality (AQI) in the cities has reached 'Very Poor' i.e. very poor condition. The situation has become worse in the cities of North Haryana, the AQI of Kurukshetra and Ambala cities has crossed 400.

 

There are six districts of the state which have gone into the Red Zone. Among them, is Kaithal whose AQI has reached 391. With this, 371 of Yamunanagar, 337 of Karnal, 330 of Panchkula, 320 of Panipat, and Fatehabad AQI have reached 306. According to the data, the air of Sirsa, Faridabad, Ballabhgarh, Hisar, and Jind has also been recorded in the poor category.

 

what is the standard?

If the Air Quality Index (AQI) is between 0-50, then it is considered as good. Whereas between 51 and 100 is considered satisfactory. Moderate to 101 and 200, 201 to 300 indicate poor air. Whereas 301 to 400 is considered very bad and 401-500 is considered serious.

 

An increasing number of asthma patients

The number of asthma patients is increasing in cities whose AQI has reached the severe category. After this many patients suffering from respiratory problems are being referred from CHC and PHC to civil hospitals. Doctors have advised that people who have any type of breathing problem should avoid going out. Also, a mask should be used.
