In this, 1173 people died and 1774 people went missing. Around 1.5 lakh people are being shifted from 655 villages in the coastal districts of Gujarat. Thousands of houses have been evacuated from the west coast.
Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Director General (DG) Mrityunjay Mohapatra has told that 17 districts of the state have been kept on alert. More than 100 teams of NDRF are deployed in 7 states. Gujarat has a maximum number of 50 teams. The Air Force has asked for 16 transport aircraft and 18 helicopters to be kept ready.
