IIT Guwahati Student Suicide: Bad news has come out from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. A student hailing from Andhra Pradesh committed suicide here on Sunday. According to the information, a 20-year-old student was found hanging in his hostel room at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati. The police have given information about this matter on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Gudla Mahesh Sai Raj, a fifth-semester student in computer science and engineering.
The case is being investigated
According to the information given by the police, Mahesh allegedly committed suicide on Sunday due to mental pressure. An official of the Amingaon police station said that the matter is being investigated to ascertain the exact cause of death and the body will be handed over to the family after post-mortem.
Institute issued a statement
In a statement, IIT Guwahati claimed that the youth whose body was recovered from the hostel was an alumnus of the institute. According to an IIT source, the student was suspended due to poor academic performance. The institution has informed the family of the deceased and they have reached the campus, the statement said.

IIT Guwahati has also expressed its deepest condolences to Mahesh's family on this incident. In a statement issued by IIT Guwahati, it has been said that we will cooperate with the police investigation and will also conduct an internal investigation on this matter.
