Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is seen praising India since he came to power. On Saturday, Imran Khan praised India's foreign policy at a rally in Slovakia. Here he showed a video of India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, in which Jaishankar is answering the question of buying cheap oil from Russia.
Imran said - this happens in a free country
Showing this video, Imran said that this is a free country. India which got independence from Pakistan. If New Delhi can make its foreign policy according to the needs of its people, then why not Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif's government?
The former PM of Pakistan said that America had asked India not to buy oil from Russia, but India bought oil from America even after being a strategic ally of America.
Jaishankar's reply on buying cheap oil from Russia
It can be seen in the video that when the Foreign Minister of India was asked, 'Are you investing money in this war for the interest of the country?' Jaishankar replied, 'Isn't buying gas from Russia investing money in war? Why only India's money and the oil coming to India is funding the war, not the gas coming to Europe?
If European, Western countries and America are so concerned about Ukraine then why they don't allow Iranian and Venezuelan oil to enter the market? They shut down all our other sources of oil and then say you won't go to the market and get the best deal for your people.
I am against slavery of Pakistan: Imran
Imran Khan said that the Indian Foreign Minister has told America that we are free to take our decisions. Whereas the present government of Pakistan bowed before America. Fuel prices are skyrocketing in the country, people are below the poverty line. In such a situation, I am against slavery in Pakistan.
Imran is constantly accusing the Shahbaz government of ousting him along with America. On Saturday, he again termed the coalition government of Shahbaz Sharif an 'imported government'.
How much oil does India import from Russia?
India currently imports only 2% of crude oil from Russia. It also imports petroleum products worth $3 billion annually from Russia. It is likely to increase in the future. At the same time, India is also considering taking crude oil and other commodities from Russia at subsidized prices. In such a situation, the biggest question is whether India can buy more crude oil from Russia amid US sanctions.
The answer is yes because America has also recently said that if India takes crude oil from Russia, then it has no objection. Also, it does not violate any restrictions. Meanwhile, some reports have claimed that the country's largest petroleum marketing company Indian Oil has also procured 3 million barrels of crude oil from Russia at cheaper prices. It is being told that this deal has been done through a trader at a discount of 20 to 25 dollars.
From which countries does India currently import oil?
OPEC is an organization of crude oil-producing countries. It produces 60% of the crude oil sold worldwide. Russia is not a member of OPEC countries, but since 2017 it has been working with OPEC to set oil production limits so that crude oil prices do not increase excessively. If seen, 12% of the world's crude oil is produced in Russia, 12% in Saudi Arabia, and 16-18% in America.
India imports 85% of its crude oil requirement. Of this, 60% is taken from the Gulf countries. At the same time, India is more dependent on Saudi Arabia and America for importing crude oil. Apart from this, India also takes oil from Iraq, Iran, Oman, Kuwait, and Russia and also buys some from the spot market i.e. open market.
