Uttar Pradesh has now moved up to number six in the list of coronavirus infected states, surpassing Delhi. Things are very bad in the capital Lucknow. There are 52 thousand such patients who are undergoing treatment. In such a situation, patients have to face trouble with each bed. If somehow you are getting beds in a hospital, then oxygen arrangements have to be made on your own.
The oxygen refilling center in the Talkatora area of Lucknow has a one-kilometer long line. What is the importance of the oxygen cylinder in the time of the epidemic, it can be estimated by looking at the crowd here. Some people are reaching with the cylinder in their lap, while some are loaded onto vehicles. Somebody is running 15 to 20 km for refilling, but still is not getting oxygen.
This is the condition outside all the oxygen godowns of Lucknow. A list of 121 Covid-19 hospitals has been released by the district administration within the last 3 days. Out of which only 15 hospitals have better treatment facilities for corona. But the condition of other hospitals is bad. They also lack oxygen.
Hospital found but no oxygen cylinder
Suresh, who hails from Rajajipuram, says that when his father's health deteriorated, he immediately rushed him to the hospital. The father was admitted to the hospital, but there was no arrangement of oxygen. Suresh says that now he will buy oxygen cylinders by himself. But there is also such a long line to take the cylinder here. I do not think I can take the hospital cylinder at the right time.
Amit Tripathi, who arrived at BKT's Ram Jas Hospital with his father, says that after a lot of effort, he was able to get the father admitted to the hospital on the fifth day. After 24 hours, the hospital management said that the oxygen cylinder was exhausted. Make arrangements for your patient yourself. For the last 24 hours, we went to the gas godowns of Lucknow with an empty oxygen cylinder, but our cylinder could not be filled yet. We have also told the district administration about this. They have just given assurances.
Wandering for 3 days to get hospitalized
Reena, a resident of Lucknow, has been wandering the streets for the last 3 days to recruit her father. Reena says that in the CT scan, the doctor wrote that the father is positive. After this, we kept running to get him admitted to the hospital, but he was not admitted because of the RT-PCR report. 3 days later, when the investigation report came, the father was negative about it. Still, he has an infection in his lungs, due to which he needs to be admitted to the hospital for treatment. But we are still trying for it.
Hundreds of people are seen coming and going outside Lohia Hospital within 1 hour. Most of these families are running to get their patients admitted. Somebody is running from the CMO office, then someone is meeting the hospital officials. 55-year-old Sunaina has not been admitted for 3 days. They need oxygen. Yesterday, e-rickshaws for oxygen reached the gas warehouse, but no oxygen was found. He has started taking oxygen by making puddings of celery, camphor, and cloves. Right now they are not getting beds anywhere.
Difficult to breathe in trains, no place to set foot in buses
After the lockdown in Delhi, migrant laborers continue to return to Uttar Pradesh. People from Mumbai and other states are also returning to their homes. But on reaching Lucknow, they have to wait for the bus for 8 to 10 hours to go to their village. The train is running, but the crowd is very much there.
The Uttar Pradesh government has installed 800 buses in Alambagh, 400 in Kaiserbagh, 300 buses in Charbagh. Despite this, the number of passengers is so high that they have to wait for hours. In the name of testing a large number of returning workers from Mumbai and Delhi, there is also a lot of messing up. Khanpur is being done at the bus station and railway station. This is expected to cause corona infection and rapid spread.
Have to go by private vehicle only, 4 times the fare
Shyam Sundar, who lives in Deoria, says that neither the bus was found nor the train. Been waiting since tomorrow. Private buses, tempos, travelers, and cars are charging 4 times the fare if roadways buses are not available. But you have to reach home in some way. Hundreds of passengers can be seen in private vehicles at places like Charbagh, Kaiserbagh, Alambagh, Kamata, Transport Nagar 12, Bara Virwa, Polytechnic, Chinhat Chauraha. Private vehicle owners are taking advantage of their compulsion. For Lucknow to Gorakhpur, the fare is being charged from 800 to 1200 rupees instead of 300 rupees.
