While opposition parties are engaged in a blame game over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign of the voter list, the BJP has made it a key pillar of its election strategy and has begun special preparations in weak and difficult constituencies.
A separate plan has been developed for the assembly seats where the BJP lost in the 2022 assembly elections or the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. State President Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, General Secretary of Organisation Dharampal Singh, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, along with all regional and district-level officials, have joined the field.
In the 2022 assembly elections, the NDA alliance won 273 seats. In 130 seats, it or its allies lost. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP lost 183 seats.
The BJP has devised a special strategy, deploying responsible MPs, MLAs, regional officials, and Mandal-level officials for SIR in the lost constituencies.
Organisation General Secretary Dharampal stated that SIR should ensure that no genuine voters are left out of the list and that fake names are not included in the list. SIR is our most effective tool in this direction.
The BJP has focused most on those constituencies where the party lost by a margin of less than 2,000. Special meetings are being held at the Mandal and sector levels in such areas. The party has assigned the goal to everyone, from district presidents to Panna Pramukhs to reach out to every eligible family by December 11th to get the forms filled and errors corrected immediately.
Officials have been given clear instructions to increase booth-level monitoring, actively assist in the registration of new voters, and ensure that errors in the amendment forms are corrected promptly. The party believes that strengthening weak constituencies in the upcoming elections will prove to be the biggest achievement of the SIR campaign.
The BJP leadership has asked booth committees to maintain constant contact with BLOs, assist voters in verifying necessary documents, and campaign to enrol new eligible voters.
The party, which has the highest number of BLOs (1.56 lakh), believes that any discrepancy in the voter list this time could impact future electoral dynamics, so strengthening booth management is a top priority.
This aggressive campaign by the BJP demonstrates that the party considers voter list preparation the first and most important step in election preparation. Direct supervision from the top leadership has accelerated this campaign down to the grassroots level.
