Top pacer Jasprit Bumrah has dismissed Nathan McSweeney thrice in the last four innings but the Australia opener is hopeful that he will be able to score runs against his Indian opponent in the third Test starting here on Saturday. 25-year-old McSweeney's international career got off to a disappointing start in Perth when Bumrah dismissed him in the innings of the first Test in which he scored 10 and zero runs.
McSweeney was a flop in Adelaide.
McSweeney, however, scored 39 and 10 not out in Adelaide as the hosts registered a stunning 10-wicket win in the pink ball Test and leveled the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 1-1. Cricket.com.au quoted McSweeney as saying, "There is nothing more difficult than facing a bowler like Jasprit at the start of your career. I am gaining some confidence by playing a spell in Adelaide. The more I face him, the more comfortable I will become against him." Bumrah took eight wickets in Perth
Bumrah took eight wickets in the Perth Test while he took four wickets in Adelaide, making him India's most successful bowler on the current tour. McSweeney got a chance to debut after the opening batsman's spot was vacant after David Warner's retirement. He described Bumrah as an 'unmatched' bowler. McSweeney said, 'Facing him for the first time, he is quite an unmatched bowler. He is world-class and a little different from most of the bowlers I have faced.'
McSweeney's statement about Bumrah
McSweeney was among the Australian batsmen who trained at the National Cricket Center on Wednesday. He said, 'I faced two good balls from him (in Perth) so it is enough to play keeping this in mind and trust what I am doing.' The opener said, 'He got me out again in Adelaide, he is a great bowler and I am enjoying the experience of making strategies against a world-class player. Hopefully the more I face them the better I get and score some more runs here at the Gabba.' McSweeney shared a 67-run stand with Marnus Labuschagne in the first innings of the day-night Test and said watching his senior partner play helped.
