India won the first test by an innings and 140 runs.

West Indies' first innings was reduced to 248 runs. The West Indies team lost the last six wickets while scoring 108 runs. Kuldeep Yadav bowled lethally and took five wickets. This was the fifth five-wicket haul of his Test career. On Sunday, Kuldeep gave the first three blows to the West Indies.
