The Union Health Ministry said on Monday that India has given the fastest vaccination in the world by giving 17 crore doses of anti-Covid-19 vaccine to the people. The ministry said that it took 119 days for China to reach this figure, while the US took 115 days. The vaccination campaign started on 16 January with doses of health workers in India. After this, the vaccination of the Front Front personnel started on February 2. Subsequently, vaccines were introduced for different age groups.
170 million doses of the vaccine have been given in the country. According to the provisional report till seven o'clock in the morning, 17,01,76,603 doses were given in a total of 24,70,799 sessions. Of these, 95,47,102 health workers were given the first dose and 64,71,385 were given the second dose. At the same time, 1,39,72,612 personnel of the advance front have been given the first dose and 77,55,283 the second dose.
The first dose has been given to 20,31,854 people in the 18–44 age group in the country. Whereas 5,51,79,217 have been given the first dose and 65,61,851 have been given the second dose in the group of 45 to 60 years. In senior citizens, 5,36,74,082 is given the first dose and 1,49,83,217 is the second dose. Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Bihar, and Andhra Pradesh account for 66.79 percent of the country's vaccinations. The ministry said that 6,89,652 doses of the vaccine were given on the 114th day of vaccination (May 9).
