India Crush South Korea 8-2 in Asian Games; Abhishek and Dilpreet Score Two Goals Each

The Indian men's hockey team produced a dominant performance to defeat four-time champions South Korea 8-2 in the Group A match of the Asian Games, registering its biggest-ever victory over South Korea in Asiad history.

With the emphatic win, India maintained its unbeaten run in the tournament, recording its third consecutive victory after earlier wins over Indonesia and Sri Lanka. 

India Race to 4-0 Lead in the First Quarter

India took control of the match from the opening whistle and never allowed South Korea to settle.

Shilanand Lakra opened the scoring in the fourth minute before Sukhjeet Singh doubled the lead in the ninth minute. Captain Harmanpreet Singh made it 3-0 in the 11th minute, and Abhishek struck in the 14th minute to complete a remarkable first quarter as India surged to a 4-0 lead. 

The early blitz left South Korea struggling to recover against India's relentless attacking hockey.

Abhishek and Dilpreet Score Two Goals Each

India continued its dominance after the opening quarter.

Dilpreet Singh scored in the 26th minute to extend the lead to 5-0 before adding his second goal in the 32nd minute.

Abhishek also completed his brace with another goal in the 38th minute, giving India a commanding 7-0 advantage heading into the latter stages of the match. 

South Korea's Late Fightback Falls Short

After trailing by seven goals, South Korea managed to score twice in the final two quarters.

Kim Jae-ho pulled one back in the 42nd minute before Kim Yong-bok added another in the 52nd minute.

However, India's grip on the contest remained firm throughout, and Rajinder Singh scored in the final minute to seal the convincing 8-2 victory.

The South Korea victory was India's third successive win in Group A.

The Indian men's hockey team will next face Japan on September 26 as it looks to strengthen its position in the group standings. 

Vivek Sagar Prasad Completes 200 International Matches

The match was also a landmark occasion for Vivek Sagar Prasad, who completed 200 senior international appearances for India.

The experienced midfielder reached the milestone by taking the field against South Korea, adding another memorable moment to India's historic victory.
