India has taken a tough stand on the Chinese audacity of naming the areas of Arunachal Pradesh. It has reprimanded China and said in clear words that it should refrain from such acts. The truth will not change with such antics.
The Ministry of External Affairs said, 'We have seen that China is engaged in its fake and absurd efforts to name some places in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. Keeping in mind our principled stand, we reject such efforts. Forcible renaming will not change the undeniable reality that Arunachal Pradesh was, is, and will always remain an integral and inseparable part of India.'
This reaction of India has come in response to China announcing Chinese names for some places in Arunachal Pradesh, which the neighboring country claims to be the southern part of Tibet. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal was responding to a question from the media on this issue. He said that this tactic of China will not change the truth that Arunachal Pradesh has always been and will remain a part of India.
'If I change the name of your house, will it become mine?'
Earlier, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had also said that if I change the name of your house today, will it become mine? Arunachal Pradesh was, is, and will always be a state of India. Changing the name has no effect. I think we have rightly termed such tactics as futile. Doing this again and again will also make it futile. So I want to be very clear. Arunachal Pradesh was, is, and will always be India. The External Affairs Minister had also emphasized that I hope I am saying it with such clarity that not only in the country, but also outside the country, people will get this message very clearly.
Always strongly reject baseless arguments.
India has repeatedly strongly rejected the baseless arguments of China renaming Indian territories. Arunachal Pradesh was, is and will always be an integral and inseparable part of India.
China has been doing such audacity earlier also.
Even in April last year, when Beijing released a list of Chinese names of 30 places in Arunachal Pradesh, India reacted sharply. The Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs released the first list of names of six places in Zangnan in 2017. After this, a second list of 15 places was released in 2021. Then in 2023 another list with names of 11 places was released. However, India had completely rejected such tactics and said that this would not change the reality.
Provocative action amid efforts to normalize relations
The new list of names of places in Arunachal Pradesh has been released by China at a time when both countries are trying to normalize relations affected by the East Ladakh border standoff. After a gap of about five years, India and China agreed to resume the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra last month. The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra was suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent military standoff at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.
