India expressed serious concern over the spread of terrorism in Asia and Africa. India insisted to the United Nations that the countries that provide shelter to terrorists should be called out and held accountable for their actions. India made this remark in an indirect reference to Pakistan. India said that countries that are not able to deal with the menace of terrorism need to be helped. Countries that give shelter to such terrorists should be held accountable for their acts.
India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ruchira Kamboj said the threat of terrorism is serious and real. Sadly, terrorism continues to spread rapidly, especially in the regions of Africa and Asia, despite the best efforts made towards international cooperation.
Ambassador-level quarterly briefing at the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism for Member States Kamboj said the international community can only deal with the menace of terrorism through sustained and integrated multilateral action. The countries which are not able to deal with the menace of terrorism should be helped.
He said that we should avoid the categorization of terrorism. Words like right-wing, left-wing, far right, or far left are misused for profit. The global counter-terrorism strategy must be supported by all member states. India strongly condemns all types of terrorist attacks irrespective of religion, faith, culture, or caste. Similarly, we condemn terrorist attacks motivated by fear of Islam, fear of Christianity, anti-Jewish, anti-Sikh, anti-Buddhist, and anti-Hindu prejudices. Kamboj referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remark that even a single act of terrorism is too many. One death is too many.
