The dream of Indians living in America to get a green card was shattered again. In the House of Representatives, Speaker Nancy Pelosi rejected the Eagle Act before voting. A large section of Democratic and Republican Party leaders opposed it. The leaders said that with the implementation of this act, the dominance of Indians and Chinese citizens in America will increase further.
What is Eagle Act?
There is an employee-based 7% quota of green cards for each country. The Eagle Act reduces this quota to 15%. With this, the people of India will be able to get green cards easily through the 'first come, first served' system. At present, the waiting period for Green Card for Indians is 90 years, which will increase to 458 years by 2030. In such a situation, the rejection of this act will increase the difficulties of Indians in America.
Leaders in the US Parliament outright rejected the act
Leaders in the US Parliament said that if this act is implemented, many countries will have to face inequality. In countries where the working class is weak, they will not get a chance to come here. Republican leader Rep. Jim Banks said that infiltrating immigrants should be stopped first, then the act should be considered. At the same time, Democratic Party leader Yvette Clarke said that due to the passage of the Eagle Act, there is a danger of the dominance of the people of India or China than before.
People accused the leaders of supporting the bill
As soon as the decision to reject the bill came, people started questioning the leaders supporting this bill. Immigration Voice accused Democratic leader Joi Lofgren, a known supporter of the bill, of deliberately delaying the bill's introduction so that the House session would end. It is claimed that she is also a close friend of Pelosi.
Loss to tech companies due to the passing of the bill
A source told Immigration Voice that the big tech companies did not want the bill to pass. They hire low-paid Indians on visas as indentured servants. They also give greed to get a green card. But if these employees get green cards, their salaries will have to be increased. Also, they will be able to easily move to another company.
Indians demand to bring ordinance from Biden
The Indian President living in America is demanding Biden bring the Eagle Act as an ordinance. If this happens, the matter can also go to court. Raj, who works as a doctor, says that there is a lot of discrimination against Indians in America. Now I have made up my mind to go to Canada or India.
