Samsung Galaxy S27 Series: Major Display, Processor and Battery Upgrades Leaked; Check Expected Features

Samsung's next flagship smartphone lineup is already generating significant buzz, even though the Galaxy S27 series is still months away from launch. Multiple reports and leaks have pointed to changes in the design, display technology, processors, battery technology and privacy features.

The rumored lineup could also expand to four models: the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra. GSMA database listings have provided additional evidence for the existence of the S27 Pro, although Samsung has not officially confirmed the complete lineup or specifications.

Samsung Galaxy S27 Series Launch Date

The Galaxy S27 series is currently expected to debut in January or February 2027, with February appearing to be the more likely window in several recent reports. Sales would be expected to begin after the launch event, but Samsung has not announced an official launch date.

Galaxy S27 Ultra Could Get a New Camera Design

The Galaxy S27 Ultra could receive one of the biggest visual changes in the lineup.

Recent leaks suggest Samsung may move away from the current camera arrangement and introduce a wider, horizontal or pill-shaped rear camera housing. Leaked case renders have also pointed toward a more substantial camera redesign on the Ultra and Pro models.

The standard Galaxy S27 and S27+ are expected to retain a design closer to the current generation, although unofficial renders suggest only modest visual changes for the base model.

Major Display Upgrade Could Be Coming

Display technology could be another major focus for Samsung.

Recent leaks suggest that the Galaxy S27 Ultra could use an advanced M16 OLED panel, while other reports indicate Samsung may differentiate the display technology between the four models. One leak claims the standard S27 and S27+ could receive M14 panels, while the Pro and Ultra could use newer M16-family displays.

The newer panel technology is expected to offer improvements in areas such as brightness, color performance, efficiency and display durability. However, these specifications remain part of the leak cycle and should not be treated as confirmed Samsung specifications.

Privacy Display May Expand to More Galaxy S27 Models

Samsung could also expand its Privacy Display technology beyond the Ultra model.

Current reports differ on exactly which Galaxy S27 phones will receive the feature. Some leaks have linked it specifically to the S27 Pro and S27 Ultra, while other reports suggest Samsung could eventually bring the technology to a broader portion of the lineup.

The technology is designed to make on-screen content harder for people nearby to view from an angle.

Exynos 2700 Could Return

Processor selection is expected to be another major talking point for the Galaxy S27 series.

Reports suggest Samsung could continue its regional chipset strategy, using Qualcomm's next-generation Snapdragon processor in some markets while bringing back its Exynos chipset in others.

The Exynos 2700 is reportedly being developed for the Galaxy S27 generation, with leaks pointing to improvements in CPU, GPU and AI performance compared with the previous generation. Meanwhile, Snapdragon-powered versions are also expected in selected markets.

However, exact processor configurations for each S27 model and market remain unconfirmed.

Galaxy S27 Could Get Silicon-Carbon Battery Technology

Battery technology could receive a significant upgrade, particularly on the higher-end models.

Recent reports suggest Samsung is considering silicon-carbon battery technology for the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra. This battery technology can potentially offer higher capacity without requiring a proportionally larger battery footprint.

There are also reports of up to 60W wired charging for the Pro and Ultra models. Current certification-related reports support 60W charging claims, although final specifications could still change before launch.

What About the Galaxy S27 Edge?

The Galaxy S27 Edge story remains unclear.

Some earlier reports suggested Samsung could drop the Edge model, leaving four phones—S27, S27+, S27 Pro and S27 Ultra—in the lineup. However, newer reports have suggested that an Edge model could potentially return, meaning the final S27 family is still uncertain.

Therefore, it is safer to treat the Edge model as an unresolved rumor rather than saying Samsung has definitely cancelled it.
