Posted on 8th Dec 2025 10:25 am by rohit kumar

India's largest airline, IndiGo, recently cancelled hundreds of flights at major airports including Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, leaving thousands of passengers stranded. These cancellations have disrupted the travel plans of many passengers.

If you are among those affected, here's a step-by-step guide on how to claim a full refund or reschedule your flight without any hassle.

How to Claim a Refund

Go to the IndiGo website

Scroll down to "Support"

Select "Plan B," which will help you modify, cancel, or process a refund

Enter your PNR/booking reference number and email ID/last name

Select to change your flight or cancel your flight – you can change the time and/or date of your flight, or cancel it and process a refund

How long will it take to receive the refund?

Once your request is processed, the refund will typically be credited to your account within seven business days. If you booked through a travel agency, please contact the agency directly to process your refund.

How the IndiGo Crisis Began

The IndiGo crisis began when the company failed to comply with new regulations. India's aviation sector regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), launched the second and final phase of new flight duty time limitation rules in November. The first phase was implemented in July after a delay of almost a year.

In November, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation issued new rules aimed at improving crew safety and rest hours. This included increasing weekly rest periods and modifying rules for night duty.

What is the current situation?

In a statement issued on Sunday, IndiGo said that its board of directors has formed a crisis management group to address the ongoing flight cancellations and delays across the country. This decision was made after an emergency board meeting on the first day of the crisis.
