Speaking about 'Dhurandhar 2' being called propaganda, the film's actor, Mustafa Ahmed said, "If that were the case, he would have cast Mukesh."

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film Dhurandhar 2 has been performing well at the box office since its release on March 19. It is outperforming its predecessor, Dhurandhar. Despite its success, a section of the audience has criticized the film, labeling it as “propaganda.” Responding to this, Mustafa Ahmed—a celebrity trainer turned actor—has offered his rebuttal. He plays the character of Rizwan in the film.

Aditya Dhar Could Have Cast Rakesh

In a conversation with Bollywood Cut Uncut, Mustafa stated, “What constitutes propaganda for one person may be perceived as an agenda by another. My name is Mustafa Ahmed. Why would Aditya Dhar need to work with me? If he were indeed pursuing a propaganda agenda, he could have simply cast Mukesh or Mahesh. Why would anyone go to such lengths for someone else? If someone does have an agenda, I respect their right to hold it.”

No Compromise on the Character

He further added, “I have not compromised on the character I portrayed in any way. I haven’t done anything—such as what people often allege, like ‘selling one’s conscience’ for the sake of fame—that falls into that category. I can only speak for myself and express myself in my own way. I can speak up for myself. This character did nothing of the sort, nor did I witness anything around me that I felt was inappropriate or wrong.”

Support from Ram Gopal Varma and Anupam Kher

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has been openly supporting the film since its release. He, too, weighed in on the ongoing “propaganda” debate. He remarked that Pakistani critics are free to make their own films.

Responding to the claim that Dhurandhar is a “propaganda film,” Anupam Kher said, “I feel pity for those who are labeling this a propaganda film. They should be ashamed of themselves. If you cannot stomach it, then go ahead and make a film of your own.”
