On joining Rajasthan, Malinga said, “It is a wonderful feeling for me to be back in IPL and it is an honor to be involved in Rajasthan Royals, a franchise that has always nurtured and developed young talent. I love the fast bowling we have. Excited about the unit. Going into the tournament and looking forward to supporting all the fast bowlers to use their game plan the right way and develop them throughout. Rajasthan Royals will start their campaign in IPL 2022 against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 29. The team will be led by Sanju Samson, who was one of the three players retained by the team ahead of the mega auction in February. The franchise had also roped in Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
