Mahendra Singh Dhoni has indicated his retirement from IPL. He said after the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad that he is in the last phase of his career. Now Dhoni said after the match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday (April 23) that a large number of spectators came to Eden Gardens to bid him farewell. This statement of Dhoni is also linked to his retirement from IPL.

Dhoni didn't get enough chance to bat against Kolkata. He scored two unbeaten runs on three balls. However, he is contributing immensely to the team through captaincy and wicketkeeping. The injury-ravaged Chennai team has won five matches with the help of youth. More spectators were supporting Chennai than Kolkata's fans at Eden Gardens.

Used to work in Kharagpur: Dhoni

Seeing a large number of spectators, Dhoni remembered the Kharagpur railway station. He said during the toss before the match, "I have played a lot of cricket here. I used to work in Kharagpur. It is two hours away from here. Love comes from there." Was a Ticket Collector (TC) in Railways? He worked at Kharagpur Railway Station.

Dhoni thanked the audience

After winning the match, Dhoni thanked the crowd during the post-match presentation. He said, "I just want to thank the spectators for the support. They have come here in huge numbers. Most of these people will come in the Kolkata jersey in the next match. They are trying to see me off, so the spectators Thank you very much.''

What happened in the match?

Batting first after losing the toss, Chennai scored 235 runs losing four wickets in 20 overs. Ajinkya Rahane played an unbeaten inning of 71 runs in 29 balls. Apart from this, Shivam Dubey scored 50 runs in 21 balls and Devon Conway scored 56 runs in 40 balls. In response, the Kolkata team could score 186 runs losing eight wickets in 20 overs.
