The 17th season of IPL, one of the world's oldest franchise-based T20 leagues, is being played. Cricketers from all over the world play in this league. Now Australia's world-winning captain and Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting has also praised this tournament and termed it the best league in the world. Ponting said that this league is greatly benefiting talented youngsters like Jack Fraser McGurk.

Australia's young batsman McGurk is in excellent form in the current season of IPL. He played an inning of 65 runs in 18 balls while chasing the target in a high-scoring match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, as soon as he was out, Delhi's batting order faltered and the team had to face defeat by 67 runs in that match. Delhi coach Ponting is surprised by McGurk's explosive innings.

'Youth will have to learn from IPL'

Ponting said, there is no doubt that McGurk is an extremely talented young player, but is not fully mature yet. He needs to improve on a lot of aspects of his game. Such players should learn from the IPL as it has been the best domestic T20 league in the world for a long time. McGurk scored 65 runs off 18 balls against Hyderabad, but he must learn from that innings. McGurk needs to score a century, as Yashasvi Jaiswal did. When top-order batsmen get a chance to score big, they should take advantage of it. This has a big impact on winning or losing the match.

Ponting came in support of Porel

Along with this, Ponting also talked about young batsman Abhishek Porel who is playing as an impact player for Delhi in some matches. Ponting said we have seen Ponting landing at number three on some occasions. I think he is a future star player. Porel learns every day and is taking lessons from his training. Porel is understanding the different phases of the game.
