Javed Akhtar Defends Dhurandhar

Javed Akhtar came to the defense of the film Dhurandhar. He stated, “Every story takes a certain stance; but does it become ‘propaganda’ simply because the narrative does not sit well with a specific section of the audience? Everyone has the right to propagate their ideas. What exactly is wrong with propaganda films? The duty of every filmmaker is to depict the truth. Even if a film’s story is based on a fairy tale, it inevitably embodies a certain ideology in one form or another.”

Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar 2 were released in theaters within a span of four months. While the first film grossed over ₹1,300 crore worldwide, the second installment is on the verge of crossing the ₹2,000 crore mark.
