Renowned South Indian actress Trisha Krishnan is celebrating her 43rd birthday today. Having begun her journey as ‘Miss Chennai,’ Trisha went on to achieve immense success in the film industry. Currently, she remains in the headlines due to her involvement in politics and developments in her personal life. Her co-star and close friend, Thalapathy Vijay, is poised to emerge as a major figure in Tamil Nadu politics today.
A Journey from the Stage to the Silver Screen
Trisha’s cinematic journey began with her winning the ‘Miss Chennai’ title, after which she turned her focus toward the South Indian film industry. She officially kicked off her career with an appearance in the music video for Falguni Pathak’s superhit song, “Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaye.” Actress Ayesha Takia also featured alongside her in this video. Trisha subsequently made her Bollywood debut opposite Akshay Kumar in the film Khatta Meetha.
Trisha and Vijay: A Dynamic Duo
In 2004, Trisha starred alongside Thalapathy Vijay in the film Ghilli. The movie was a massive hit, and the audience showered immense love upon their on-screen pairing. Ghilli went on to become the highest-grossing film of that year. Following this success, the duo appeared together in Thirupaachi (2005), Aathi (2006), Kuruvi (2008), and Leo (2023). The pairing of Trisha and Vijay is counted among the most successful on-screen duos in the South Indian film industry. After their appearance in Kuruvi (released in 2008), fans had to wait nearly 15 years to see them together again in the film Leo.
Vijay: From Actor to Politician
Vijay has officially stepped into the arena of Tamil Nadu politics. Through his political party, the Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), he has entered the fray for the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections. On this significant occasion, Vijay’s close friend, Trisha, has—albeit indirectly—expressed her support for him on multiple occasions. Vote counting has now commenced in Tamil Nadu, and as of the latest reports, Vijay’s party is leading in over 100 seats.
Trisha’s Support for Vijay? During the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections, actress Trisha Krishnan was frequently observed indirectly extending her support to Vijay Thalapathy.
Vijay and Trisha attended an event together shortly after Vijay Thalapathy’s wife filed a divorce petition in the Family Court, a move that sparked widespread speculation regarding the nature of their relationship.
On April 23, 2026, actress Trisha Krishnan arrived at a polling station to cast her vote. She subsequently shared a photograph of her ink-marked finger on Instagram, featuring the song “Arjunar Villu” from the film Ghilli as the background music. Notably, this song features a distinctive whistle tune—a sound that also happens to be the official symbol of the TVK party. Consequently, observers have interpreted this gesture as Trisha publicly signaling her support for Vijay.
Earlier, when BJP State President Nainar Nagendran made personal remarks targeting Vijay Thalapathy, Trisha issued a strong condemnation of his comments in response.
May 4th marks the actress’s birthday. Coincidentally, the results of the Tamil Nadu elections are also scheduled to be declared on this very day. On this special occasion, Trisha visited the Tirupati temple to offer prayers—a visit that fans have also begun to link to the ongoing election events.
On the very day the election results were being announced, actress Trisha Krishnan’s vehicle was spotted at Vijay Thalapathy’s residence.
Vijay’s wife, Sangeetha, stated: “Vijay and Trisha are in a relationship.”
Vijay married Sangeetha Sornalingam on August 25, 1999, and the couple has two children. However, quite unexpectedly—approximately 27 years into their marriage—Sangeetha filed a petition in court seeking a divorce from Vijay. According to a report, Sangeetha cited Vijay’s extramarital affair as the grounds for the divorce. In her petition, she alleged that Vijay has been involved in an extramarital affair with an actress since 2021. She claimed that although Vijay repeatedly promised to end the relationship, he failed to do so. Furthermore, she noted that he has been constantly going on trips and has ceased paying attention to his family.
