Jhund's story is based on the life of a retired sports teacher from Nagpur, Vijay Barse. Vijay had put a lot of emphasis on shaping the future of the children living in the slum. Amitabh Bachchan has played the character of Vijay. The story begins with a slum in Nagpur where people compare children living with dirt. Vijay sees the hidden talent inside these children and then he starts working day and night to make their life beautiful.
