The minister said- Before the Modi government came, there were only 22 reactors in the country. In 2017, the cabinet headed by Prime Minister Modi approved 11 indigenous heavy water reactors with a cost of Rs 1.05 crore and a total capacity of 7,000 MW.
He further said that the private sector was opened for the Space Department. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also allowed joint ventures to work with government entities (PSUs) to enhance India's nuclear program.
Nuclear power plants are being set up in other states as well.
Singh also told the Rajya Sabha that earlier India's nuclear projects were mostly confined to southern states or Maharashtra and Gujarat in the west, but the Modi government is promoting them in other parts of the country as well.
