Schools in Sirkazhi and Tharangampadi taluks of the Mayiladuthurai district of the state will remain closed on Tuesday (November 15, 2022) due to continuing rains in Tamil Nadu. Holiday has been declared for schools due to heavy rains in the state. Earlier the Mayiladuthurai District Collector had declared a holiday for schools on November 14, 2022. This has also been extended till today i.e. November 15, 2022.
Yellow alert issued regarding rain
Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has put Tamil Nadu and all its districts on yellow alert till Tuesday. People here have been advised to keep a watchful eye on the weather. Schools in other districts of Tamil Nadu are expected to remain open tomorrow. No information has been received so far regarding schools in Chennai and their closure due to rain.
CM Stalin orders relief to people affected by rain
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin also visited the Mayiladuthurai district to inspect the damage caused due to heavy rains. On inspection, the CM has ordered relief for all those affected in Sirkazhi, Tharangampadi taluks of Mayiladuthurai.
Rain forecast in 20 districts of Karnataka including Bengaluru
At the same time, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains till November 17 in more than 20 districts of Karnataka including Bengaluru. According to the IMD, Bengaluru city, Bengaluru rural, Chikkaballapur, coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, northern areas of Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Koppal, Raichur, Hassan, Chikkamagalur, Shivamogga, Malnad (hill) of southern districts ) Region Kodagu, Mysore, Mandya, Kolar, Ramanagara and Tumakuru are receiving continuous rains.
