New Delhi, March 14 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on two-day visit to Sri Lanka, said on Saturday that he was looking forward to a wonderful day.
Modi will travel to Anuradhapura, Talaimannar and Jaffna in Sri Lanka.
"Leaving for Anuradhapura. Will also travel to Talaimannar and Jaffna today (Saturday). Looking forward to a wonderful day," Modi tweeted.
Modi will be the first Indian prime minister and only the second foreign leader after British Prime Minister David Cameron to visit Jaffna in the war-ravaged northern province, where he will hand over homes built with Indian assistance.
In Jaffna, Modi will meet Tamil leaders and in Anuradhapura, he will visit the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi.
In Talaimannar, Modi will flag off the first train signifying recommencement of the Talaimannar/Medawachchiya sector of train service to Colombo, following the rehabilitation work carried out with Indian credit assistance.
Modi's visit to Sri Lanka is the first official visit by an Indian prime minister in 27 years after the 1987 visit by then prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.
