New Delhi, March 22 (IANS) A 32-year-old man, claiming to be a BJP leader, tried to commit suicide outside the party's Delhi office Saturday by consuming poison after he failed to get a ticket for the Lok Sabha polls, police said. He is now out of danger.
C.R. Gaura, a resident of Karnataka, consumed a poisonous substance outside the Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party office situated at Pant Marg.
"Gaura was rushed to a hospital where his condition is stated to be out of danger," a police officer said.
During investigation, it came to light that Gaura was demanding a ticket to contest the Lok Sabha election from Karnataka but the party refused, police said.
"Gaura had come to Delhi a few days ago and contacted several BJP leaders but could not get a satisfactory answer in his favour that led him to take such a step," the officer said.
