MEA: Foreign Ministry said – Canada should ban groups involved in anti-India activities, and also expressed concern

India reiterated its concern against forces planning a so-called plebiscite in Canada on the demand for Khalistan and asked Canada to stop anti-India activities on its soil.

The pro-Khalistan groups that have been banned as terrorist groups in India should be declared terrorist groups in their own right. Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said on Thursday that the separatist actions of Khalistani elements and the history of violence in Punjab are well known to all. India opposes politically motivated actions of extremist elements in Canada. Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) plans a November 6 referendum in Mississauga, near Toronto. He had earlier made such an attempt at Brampton on 18 September.

Serious work continues with the UK on finalizing a free trade agreement

The Foreign Ministry said that serious talks are on with the UK to finalize a free trade agreement (FTA). Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, "We have already mentioned that the final round of talks on FTA is going on and it is for the trade ministers of both the countries and their officials to take any decision on it." I can't comment on the situation or give an end date. I can only state that both countries are seriously working on this issue. In April, the two countries had set a deadline for Diwali for the conclusion of the FTA. But due to some reasons, this was not possible.
