Ahead of Diwali, the Supreme Court issued a significant order regarding green firecrackers in Delhi-NCR. The Supreme Court relaxed the conditions of the firecracker ban and permitted the use of green firecrackers until October 21st. In its significant order, the Supreme Court permitted the sale and use of green firecrackers only if they are certified by the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI).
The court granted permission for the use of green firecrackers with conditions. This permission is valid from October 18th to 21st. While delivering the order, CJI BR Gavai stated that we must adopt a balanced approach. Permission must be granted with restraint without compromising the environment. The Supreme Court clarified that the ban on the sale of these firecrackers will continue after this period (October 21st). It also directed strict action against manufacturers and sellers for violating the rules.
Permission granted during these times in the morning and at night
The Supreme Court has granted permission to burst green crackers from October 18th to October 21st, from 6 AM to 7 AM, and then from 8 PM to 10 PM. The court has ordered that bursting of firecrackers from outside will not be permitted in the Delhi-NCR region. The Supreme Court order stated that if counterfeit firecrackers are found, licenses will be suspended.
Order to Form Patrol Teams
Furthermore, patrol teams will conduct regular checks on green cracker manufacturers. The court has ordered police officers to form patrol teams to ensure that only permitted products with QR codes are sold. The QR codes of green crackers will be uploaded on the website so that authenticity can be verified. According to the court order, green crackers can only be sold from designated locations by certified companies.
