Royal Challengers Bangalore's bad times in IPL 2024 are far from over. Faf du Plessis-led RCB suffered a humiliating seven-wicket defeat with 27 balls remaining at the hands of Mumbai Indians in the 25th match of IPL 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.

Royal Challengers Bangalore batted first in the match and scored 196 runs losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Mumbai Indians achieved the target by losing three wickets in just 15.3 overs. After RCB's defeat, captain Faf du Plessis admitted that his team's bowling department was weak.

Faf du Plessis said that his team's bowling attack has failed to challenge the opposition camp. Du Plessis said that his team's batsmen have to continuously focus on scoring 200 or more to have any hope of winning the match. RCB will depend more on its batsmen to make a comeback in the remaining season.

The claws of defeat on RCB

This was the fifth defeat for Royal Challengers Bangalore in six matches. Despite the flop of Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell, RCB scored 196 runs with the help of half-centuries from Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar, and Dinesh Karthik. But Mumbai batsmen defeated RCB bowlers and achieved the target with 27 balls remaining.

Bumrah took command from Malinga

RCB captain Faf du Plessis praised Mumbai Indians fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who took five wickets in the match. Bumrah took five wickets in an innings in T20 for the second time. Bumrah took five wickets for 21 runs in 4 overs against RCB.
