NASA Boeing Partnership: American Space Agency NASA and aircraft manufacturer Boeing are working together on a project that will make future flights environment-friendly. NASA and Boeing will work together on the Sustainable Flight Demonstrator Project to build, test, and fly an emissions-reducing single-aisle aircraft this decade.
Passengers will be benefited
NASA's goal is that their partnership with Boeing will help them produce and test a demonstrator engine that will benefit future commercial airlines and passengers around the world, NASA Administrator Nelson said in a statement. The space agency hopes that by 2030 this technology will be in common use. NASA will invest $425 million in this project. The Boeing Company and its partners will contribute the remaining amount, which is estimated to be around $725 million. Under the agreement, the agency will also contribute technical expertise and facilities.
'It's in our DNA'
NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said, “When you fly, NASA has been with you from the beginning. NASA has dared to go further, faster and higher, while in doing so NASA has made aviation more sustainable and reliable. It is in our DNA.
Environment and airline companies will benefit
"Our goal is to make the commercial airlines of the future more fuel efficient, benefiting the environment, benefiting the commercial aviation industry and passengers around the world," said Bill Nelson. If we're successful, we could see these technologies in the planes people will fly in the 2030s. The International Civil Aviation Organization has set a target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
