Be it Earth or space, without water man cannot survive anywhere for long. Astronauts i.e. scientists spend years on the International Space Station doing research related to the space sector. It is obvious that at this station also a person needs food to eat and water to drink.
However, even a drop of water at the space station is very precious. At the same time, scientists also have to defecate there. Keeping the space station clean is also no less than a challenge for the scientists. Meanwhile, NASA has announced that 98 percent of the water in the space station has been recycled.
Explain that this water also includes sweat and urine, which has been made potable. NASA has managed to make this rare feat possible using the Environmental Control and Life Support System.
This is how dirty water gets recycled
"This is a very important step in the development of the life support system," said Christopher Brown, a member of the Johnson Space Center team that manages the life support system on the space station. The environmental control and life support system is a machine that has a water recovery system. Through this system, water is sent to the Water Processor Assembly, after which the impure water is made drinkable.
Wherein, the brine processor assembly is used to remove the impure water remaining in the urine. Explain that many filters have been installed in this machine, which makes the contaminated water drinkable. Prine Processor Assembly 98% impure water is made potable through the processor assembly.
This technology is very effective for the future
Christopher Brown further said that this technology can prove to be a milestone for us. As scientists spend more time in space, this system is only going to become more important.
