NCRB Report 2021: 86 rape cases registered every day, 49 crimes against women every hour

The extent to which crimes against women are increasing in the country is reflected in the report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) for the year 2021. According to the bureau, 86 cases of rape were registered every day last year. At the same time, 49 cases of crime against women were filed every hour.

 

According to the latest government report on crimes in the country, a total of 31,677 rape cases were registered in 2021. In this way, an average of 86 cases were established every hour. Whereas an average of 49 cases of crime against women were registered every hour.

 

Rape incidents increased in 2021 compared to 2020

 

According to the NCRB working under the Ministry of Home Affairs, a total of 28,046 cases of rape were registered in 2020, while in 2019 32,033. The bureau has prepared this report titled 'Crime in India 2021'.

 

Rajasthan ahead in rape, Madhya Pradesh second

 

In the year 2021 the report, a maximum of 6,337 cases of rape were registered in Rajasthan. Whereas, Madhya Pradesh stood second. In MP, 2,947 cases of rape were registered during this period. 2,496 cases were registered in Maharashtra and 2,845 in Uttar Pradesh. In the year 2021, 1,250 rape cases were registered in Delhi.

 

Crime against women continues to increase

 

In the year 2021, a total of 4,28,278 cases of crime against women were registered across the country. Of these, the crime rate (per one lakh population) stood at 64.5%. The data shows that the rate of filing charge sheets against the accused in such offenses was 77.1 percent.

 

Talking about the year 2020, then the total number of crimes against women was 3,71,503 and in 2019, 4,05,326 were registered. Crimes against women include crimes like rape, rape, and murder, dowry death, acid attack, abetment to suicide, kidnapping, forced marriage, human trafficking, online harassment.

 

Most cases of crime against women in UP

 

Uttar Pradesh (56,083) reported the highest number of crimes against women in 2021, followed by Rajasthan (40,738), Maharashtra (39,526), ​​West Bengal (35,884), and Odisha at 31,352. However, in terms of the crime rate against women, Assam tops the list with 168 percent. At the same time, Delhi came second with 147 percent and Odisha stood third with 137 percent.

 

The NCRB report that comes out every year helps in controlling crimes in the country. Based on this, security agencies take measures to curb crime in the respective areas.
