The State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Sunday sealed properties worth Rs 100 crore of Jamaat-e-Islami, a banned organization funding separatists in Jammu and Kashmir. The operation took place in Ganderbal, Bandipora, Kupwara, and Baramulla districts.

The agency has been taking action for some time now to stop funding terrorist organizations in the state. Under this, Jamaat-e-Islami's property worth Rs 200 crore has been sealed so far. In the last 30 years, the Jamaat has established its vast empire in the valley. This includes a large amount of real estate, including land, shopping malls, and schools.

Identification of 188 properties of Jamaat-e-Islami

SIA officials said that security agencies have identified around 188 properties. Their value is around 1000 crores. All these properties will be sealed soon and bank accounts will be frozen after verification.

Ban on 300 Jamaat schools in the Valley

Jamaat-e-Islami used to run more than 300 schools in Kashmir alone. Now they have been completely banned. Security officials feared that the students studying here could be pushed into terrorism or separatism.

Lashkar-e-Taiba commander's property is also attached

Authorities in Kashmir's Doda have attached the property of absconding Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abdul Rashid alias Jahangir. Abdul is currently trying to spread terror in the valley from across the border. The action was taken on his land measuring more than four kanals in Khanpura village of Thathri in the Doda district following the direction of the magistrate.

Superintendent of Police Abdul Qayoom said that action will be taken against all those who are operating from Pakistan. These people are doing the work of provoking the youth through social media.

168% reduction in terror incidents: Anurag Thakur

Union Minister Anurag Thakur has claimed that the incidents of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir have come down by 168% since 2014 due to the surgical strikes and other tough measures taken by the government. At the same time, an 80% reduction has been recorded in extremist incidents in the North East.
